Landon Austin Mitchell

My name is Landon Austin Mitchell. I am an author, philosophy student, and politics and technology enthusiast.
I was born in the South. My father is a Navy veteran who served in the First Gulf War and my mother was a computer chip engineer for Agere Systems. After I lost my mom to breast cancer she developed from working with radioactive rare earth minerals, my maternal grandparents raised me in Fresno, California. My grandfather is a retired Navy veteran and my grandmother worked in retail.
I graduated from high school in 2016 as an AP Scholar with Distinction. I chose to study philosophy at UC Santa Cruz because I wanted to figure out what my goals and values were. I graduated with highest honors in my major in 2020, earning a 3.9+ GPA in advanced philosophy classes.
In 2025, I published my first book "Intersections: Essays on Philosophy, Politics, and Economics," which compiles many of my old and now-deleted blog posts as well as a few essays I wrote in college. I also started the podcast Progressive Republic, available on Youtube, Substack, and Rumble.
I am now a graduate student who dreams to earn a PhD in Philosophy. I intend to work on the intersection of ethics and AI technology, using AI to provide abundance for humanity.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my life.
